Fire Doors
Are You Complying With The Law?
The Fire Safety Bill became Fire Safety Law in April 2021 and will be enforced in 2023.
The Law applies in all buildings except inside private dwellings. Buildings include schools, factories, hotels, offices and communal areas of a block of flats, apartments and houses of multiple occupation.
The Law states that each building needs a responsible person who has a legal duty to mitigate the risk of fire within a property by carrying out a fire risk assessment and maintaining a fire management plan. The responsible person is typically the person, organisation or company that controls the building.
Install (Ceilings & Partitions) Limited employ certified Fire Door Inspectors and Fire Door Fitters. We can carry out an inspection of your fire doors, provide a written report advising of remedial action, which our trained team can undertake to assist you in complying. We are fully qualified by UK Fire Door Training.
Our Inspector will assess if the door:
⦁ Has the correct rating for its location
⦁ Is fitted properly to maintain the buildings fire compartmentation
⦁ Is damaged in any way that reduces performance in the event of a fire
⦁ To check correct glazing, intumescent strips, hardware and closers that function
⦁ Has appropriate signage
Fire doors are engineered safety devices that protect lives and property. Failure to adhere to the terms of the Fire Safety Order can lead to fines and prison sentences. Therefore, it is vital that the law is understood and respected.
